The rise of the podcast hasn’t just revolutionized the way in which people engage with prominent figures and how our media consumption is split up – as new data from Statista Advertising & Media Markets Insights reveals, ad-supported podcasting has long been pulling more than its fair share in weight when it comes to digital audio revenue growth.

With higher growth rates (forecast) across the entire period of 2018 to 2027, podcasts have been outperforming all other segments in this measure – while the most revenue of course still comes from music streaming.

As this infographic also illustrates however, is the overall downward trend in growth rates for digital audio. The music downloads segment (not pictured) is unsurprisingly shrinking in terms of revenue for the whole period in question, but across the board, it would seem the peak of expansion has already been reached.

This chart shows forecast growth in global digital audio revenue, by segment, from 2018 to 2027.
