U.S. Covid-19 Hospitalizations Soar To Record High

The U.S. has experienced a soaring rate of coronavirus infections in recent weeks with the number of new cases surpassing 140,000 on Wednesday, an all-time high. Earlier this week, the number of Americans in hospital with Covid-19 topped 60,000 for the first time on Tuesday. That’s according to The COVID Tracking Project who stated that hospitals in some parts of the country are coming dangerously close to breaking point.

Most of the recent hospitalizations have occurred in the Midwest where cases have been rising considerably over the past two weeks. Seventeen startes are at their current peaks for hospitalizations and local news reports state that Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin are on the brink of being overwhelmed. Right now, 1 on 2,000 state residents in North and South Dakota are in hospital with Covid-19 with only New York and New Jersey experiencing a higher rate of hospitalizations during the pandemic so far.
