Fintech is a major growth market across the world, but one that is not growing in the same way everywhere. The Statista Digital Market Outlook reveals stark differences in the distribution of fintech segments across he globe.
Alternative lending and digital payments were the two fintech segments with a heavy focus on the Asian market. More than half of global digital payment transaction value is tied to Asia in 2022, as is a whopping 94 percent of transaction value in alternative lending. The second segment has not been free from criticism, however, as borrowing from non-bank actors can be risky due to the potential lack of regulations. Alternative financing, on the other hand is centered on Europe, while digital investment was concentrated in the Americas, mainly the United States.
