By around 17:30 on 6 January 2021, the average FTSE 100 CEO will have already earned the complete annual pay of the average full-time worker in the UK. According to the latest calculations by the High Pay Centre and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, this milestone will be reached after just 34 hours of work. As our infographic shows, the median earnings of a FTSE 100 CEO were £3.6 million in 2019 (the latest figures available). This compares to 30,353 for the typical employee in the country. There is at least progress of some sort to be observed. Last year, it took the CEOs just 33 hours to reach this figure and the year before it was 29.
