U.S. Surpasses 100,000 Covid-19 Hospitalizations

The U.S. has experienced a soaring rate of coronavirus infections in recent weeks with the total number of new cases swiftly approaching 14 million. On Wednesday, it set a grim record, reporting 200,000 new Covid-19 cases in a single day. The number of people currently hospitalized with the coronavirus has also been rising steadily in recent weeks and it has now surpassed 100,000, according to data from the The COVID Tracking Project.

Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that difficult times lay ahead for Americans. He predicted that the total number of U.S. deaths from Covid-19 could reach 450,000 by February with 2,500 people per day potentially dying from the disease.
