Report from a front line sales guy

Yesterday – I sent this to a friend who is eastern US sales manage for a window manufacturing company:

Subject: Remodeling activity
Hi xxxx. Hope you are seeing this in your world.

His response:

Unfortunately the remodeling business is not as robust (virtually anywhere in the country) as this article is stating. People are staying in their houses but seem to be hesitant to invest too much money if they are in a real estate market way underwater (the Northeast for example) and/or are concerned about their jobs. It shades of late 2008 all over again–except the country is TRILLIONS more in debt with no real long term solutions. We are behind last year by about 12%–but holding our own. Many of my competitors are really struggling–some that are surprising based on the financial strength we thought they had.
