The ECRI Weekly Leading Index: Stabilization Continues

I normally post an update on this proprietary metric each Friday shortly after the ECRI data is released to non-subscribers. But with all the market and economic news of late, I was tardy in checking out the latest ECRI numbers, especially since they are a week old when published and thus won’t reflect any of the market turmoil of the past few sessions.

The Weekly Leading Index (WLI) growth indicator of the Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI) rose to 2.1 from last week’s 2.0. The economy continues show signs of stabilization after eleven consecutive weeks of decline. The interim high, now adjusted upward to 8.0, was set in the week ending on April 15
