I have no problem with delaying the eligibility age. Makes sense with people living longer – if you want 20 years sitting in an armchair waving at the servants, pay for it yourself.
But there’s NO way any cuts to SS should happen before: 1) getting rid of the Bush era tax cuts, 2) a HUGE slash to the defense budget (66% or so) and 3) a uniform, no loopholes, 15% corporate tax.
The falsehoods in the political stories are so evident, now that we’re getting to crunch time. We can’t cut defense or raise taxes on the wealthy, “because you don’t do that during an economic recovery”. But we can cut SS, money going to the class most likely to spend it immediately?
