June 8, 2011 Freddie Mac has 29 homes for sale in Wake County, NC as shown on the Freddie Mac “HomeSteps” website:

[edit: the actual search times out, so to verify, you’ll have to search yourself for “Wake, NC” at this site:

June 8, 2011 search of Wake County tax records for the Freddie Mac entity, Federal National Mortgage Loan Corporation shows 85 properties currently owned (you have to scroll to the end of page 6 to see the end of the listings):

So Freddie Mac is listing 34% of its currently owned properties in Wake County. I assume its taking in more every month.

Wake County’s population is about 900,000. Prices have held up relatively well, though the job market slipped recently and will take a big hit the next 12 months as Progress Energy and RBC Bank are both moving their home offices –out of town and out of state respectively.
