To give you an idea about how incredibly false these numbers are: I live in Mexico, where more than half the population lives beneath the poverty line. I KNOW the real unemployment rate here is more than 20 percent. But according to this graph, Mexico’s unemployment is just 5.6 percent. To determine the unemployment rate, the government here surveys people over a six-week period. If a person worked even part of one day during that time span – washing a car for 20 pesos, for example – that person is counted as employed…an entrepreneur, if you will….
