Back at the beginning of 2006, I wrote:

In the next several months, the Dow will either break the uptrend line that it bounced from in October 2002, March 2003, and October 2005, or it will break out above the resistance zone extending from the 2000-2001 highs. It may take until the second half of the year, but the outcome of this battle should signal the market’s long-term direction for years to come, depending on whether the index falls through the uptrend line, or breaks out above the resistance area.
