City of Arlington spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said the layoffs, combined with eight city employees who accepted voluntary layoffs last month, will save the city approximately $1.1 million.
The city is currently facing a $1.8 million shortfall in its 2010 budget.
hey, it costs $100,000 a person to employ a city worker in Arlington. 11 people laid off will save them 1.1 million.
just a few more employee layoffs and wa la, problem solved.
that's Arlington, Washington - not Arlington, Virginia.
