for 1, 5 and 10 oz bars here was holding at the limit of 200,000 oz with a 3-4 week delay in delivery. The extra week in delay over last week was due to an electrical problem that dropped production to 5,000 oz daily from the avg. 15,000. The shop has 70 1,000 oz bars for sale at spot plus .50. Scrap gold and silver through the door is up again this week making for a limited supply of 1 and 5 oz bars in the junk bucket. Junk 90% coins are still at 10 x face ask. Bid is around 7 x. That $3 spread is the same with fractional silver rounds and bars. 1 oz Gold Eagle supply is becoming available in quantity and slipping back a little to a $70-75 premium. A nice group of 95 Gold Eagles came in with only 5 being bid down due to spots. Platinum Eagle 1 oz coins are available but there is little current demand here for these. Platinum and gold fractionals are showing rising interest and prices which I think is mainly because there won''t be anymore produced after Dec. 31. Earlier this fall the US Mint issued a list of coins they would no longer produce and a lot of Eagles were eliminated. No Gold Eagles in unc. 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 oz and 4 coin sets. No unc. Platinum Eagles in any size. No Proof Platinums in 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 and sets. No unc Gold Buffalo coins in any size and no Buffaloes in 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 and sets. Though the Eagle fractionals have been deleted they are still available from Canada, Austria, So. Africa, Australia and China and fairly close to the Eagle prices. Also there are many ''old gold'' foreign coins in various sizes from the Mexican 2 Peso at .0482 to the 50 Peso at 1.2057 oz. Most of these coins sell at a small premium to spot compared to the new issues. You have to do your homework on these older coins but I believe it''s worth the effort in money saved. On another issue, the counterfeit coin problem out of China is worsening. The types of coins being introduced around the world is amazing. I''ll touch on this later but for an example of what''s being offered look at Ebay #140286700534 and click on ''View Sellers Other Items.'' These Ebay coins are clearly marked ''Replica'' but many are coming to the public unmarked.
