BTW-I found that hitting the "toggle side panel" to remove all those emoticons removes a lot of clutter. I keep looking for ways to do this since I think clutter is the most noticeable problem for my weary eyes. How do I clear the clutter from below this box (the stuff from "Post Options" down through all those emoticons. I also would remove anything that moves (like the emoticon with rolling eyeballs). The toughest thing about reading stuff on the web is when things are fluttering on the screen. (Feels like those visuals people get when a migraine is coming.)

In your My CONTROLS, there are many Option settings that will allow you to control some of these things, like turning off avatars, signatures, etc. After a while, your eye will automatically filter out everything but that which you want to see.

Folks. Your personal message box can be full. Mine started out full. If you want a pm, ya gotta go delete them. The good news is that you can do it en masse on this board.

How do I stop a post from going to the top relentlessly? This will end badly keeps ending up there. I changed my board settings to limit number of replies to 25 hoping that eventually these will disappear, but that post with 31 appeared. Somehow, I need a post to eventually go away whether somebody posts a reply or not.

OK. The topics are ordered by those with latest post at the top. There's no user controlled option for that, but the admin has several options. That's one, and it's the default because it keeps the topics with the greatest interest at the top of the list. I do, however, have other options, including Date Topic Started at the top. Topics with newer replies do not jump to the top of the list. This is similar to the original board's format.

I've set up a poll on this question.

For those who have been reading in this thread, the poll is at the top of the page. Please indicate your preference.

That old forum was unbearably old school.
New one is much better.

Most all forums on the internet have topics with the most recent post at the top. I prefer that also; it makes more sense.

I kind of like the font. It's a little different. Any other comments on the font out there?

I don't mind the float of a post to the top, but it seems to require a timing out mechanism like, say, after xx hours it stops where xx might be 24 hrs.

I agree with Thomas - When I check the board it appears that there has been very little activity when I see a familiar post neat the top of the page. I voted in the poll but I think you should move the poll to the main page as I feel quite sure others feel the same way.

When you log into the board, you'll see a mixture of new threads and popular threads which have been getting many replies.

Please people, this is far superior.

Threads with new posts are clearly marked with a black tab folder and an orange box. When you click on the orange box it will take you to the first unread post.

Move the poll to the main page? What does that mean?

Jeez man. Topics with new posts are lit up like a Christmas tree. Are you color blind perhaps?

Here's my TIP....

Please never post as a reply. that way we can all save time and not have to search thru the post chains for those we consider contibutory and worth reading.

john is good at this. So is Jess. and QQQ.

Please post new subjects only and don't bury good info in garbage.

I have made it easier to insert a flash video. In the ADD Reply box, Insert Special Item drop down menu, or in the Quick Access list, click on Insert: Flash Movie and enter the data in the boxes.

"Jeez man. Topics with new posts are lit up like a Christmas tree. Are you color blind perhaps? "

Really, Lee? Hey I just gave an opinion on a question that came up. Your response does not seem to be consistent with the type of dialog you encourage on this board...but it is your board. I have been watching this board for 8 years and I guess I am a little resistant to change. If you have already made up your mind on how it should be don't put up a poll.

Now I'll shut up and go back to lurking...
