Yes, households are reacting to prohibitive State (and local) taxation and regulations by moving to states that are less daunting.
New Jersey, New York and Connecticut are seeing lower inbound migration while Vermont, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania are seeing higher inbound migration. And the Carolina and Florida are seeing higher inbound migrations in part due to our aging population relocating to warmer, alligator-infested locations.
On the west coast, while not as severe as Illinois and New Jersey, California is seeing lower inbound migration while each of its neighbors are seeing higher inbound migrations. As well as Idaho. California has high taxes and high regulatory burdens.
It is almost as if Snake Pilssken is Governor of California, New Jersey and New York.
