Fed Speeches This Week – Money Morning

The presidents of the various U.S. Federal Reserve branches are having a very busy week, with speeches from one end of the country to the other, and a few overseas engagements, too.

We’ll be following these speeches closely for any Earth-shaking revelations. These are private speaking engagements, to be sure, but we’ve seen fireworks in these cases before.

Here’s a list of all the (scheduled) Fed speeches this week, plus what they’ll be talking about. Set your calendars for the following:

Monday, 9/23, 9:20 a.m. – Atlanta Fed president Dennis Lockhart speaks on American economic dynamism to the Blouin Creative Leadership Summit in New York City.

Monday, 9/23, 9:30 a.m. – New York Fed president William Dudley speaks about the economic outlook and implications for monetary policy to the Fordham Wall Street Council at Fordham University in New York. Q&A expected.

Monday, 9/23, 1:30 p.m. – Dallas Fed president Richard Fisher speaks about Too Big To Fail, as well as banking conditions in Texas and the wider United States at the Independent Bankers Association of Texas Annual Convention in San Antonio Texas. Q&A expected.

Tuesday, 9/24, 9:30 a.m. – Cleveland Fed president Sandra Pianalto gives a speech to open the Chicago Fed’s Payments Symposium.

Tuesday, 9/24, 1:00 p.m. – Kansas City Fed president Esther George introduces Boston Consulting Group’s Carl Rutstein, keynote speaker at the Chicago Fed’s Payments Symposium.

Thursday, 9/26, 10:10 a.m. – Federal Reserve Board governor Jeremy Stein speaks about “Yield-Oriented Investors and the Monetary Transmission Mechanism” at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Q&A expected.

Thursday, 9/26, 12:15 p.m. – Minneapolis Fed president Narayana Kocherlakota will speak to Houghton Rotary Club in Michigan. The topic is to be decided. Q&A expected.

Thursday, 9/26, 9:15 p.m. – Kansas City Fed president Esther George holds forth on the U.S. economy at the Colorado Economic Forum. Q&A expected.

Friday, 9/27, 5:45 AM, 10:15 a.m. – Chicago Fed president Charles Evans heads to Oslo, Norway, to speak at a Norges Bank conference. The topics will be current economic conditions and monetary policy. Q&A expected.

Friday, 9/27, 8:30 a.m. – Boston Fed president Eric Rosengren will open a conference on stable funding at the New York Fed.

Friday, 9/27, 2:00 p.m. – New York Fed president William Dudley heads to Syracuse, New York, to talk about the U.S. economy. Q&A expected.
