Server Upgrade and Service Disruptions

October 24, 2008

The Wall Street Examiner and affiliated blogs and sites, including Radiofreewallstreet.fm, Winter Watch, Russ Winter’s Actionable, and the Yellow Brick Road will be moving to a new server environment over the weekend that will enable us to better handle our growing base of subscribers and visitors. Unfortunately during this time there is likely to be a brief period when the content is offline or you may still be being directed to the old server, while dns propagation is under way. I regret any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience. My tech people tell me that some downtime is unavoidable. I am trying to arrange for the disruptions to occur over the weekend, rather than during market trading hours in the US.

Hopefully, by Monday morning all dns servers will be pointed to the new site, but if you are still seeing this message at the top of the page, then you are still on the old server. There are workarounds for this involving editing your hosts file, but this is recommended only for those experienced in this area and you would need to remember to remove the edit within a day or two.

I will post the hosts file edit on Sunday, if needed.
If by Monday you are not seeing updated material, call your ISP for assistance.
I will keep you posted.
